Volunteers are accepted into the program based on information on the Volunteer Application, information shared during the initial Interview, three letters of references, a motor vehicle check, Sex Offender Registry check and electronic fingerprinting process.
All volunteers have 3 months from their start date to complete the Protecting God's Children® for Adults which is about the prevention of child sexual abuse. This one time training session makes participants aware of the signs of child sexual abuse, the methods and means by which offenders commit abuse, and five easy steps one can use to prevent child sexual abuse. This training is required for all people who work or volunteer with children and vulnerable adults in the Diocese of Paterson. It is a free training open to all adults and is especially helpful for those who want to be informed about how protect children and those adults suseptible to being harmed by sexual predators.
