Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson helps thousands of people each day. You can make a donation to any of our programs and have it designated to purchase one of our needed items. All contributions are tax-deductible.
You can also make an in-kind donation of a needed item. We do ask that before making a purchase, you contact our Development Office at 201-315-6806. Occasionally, our programs have a very specific request to meet the needs of the people we serve.

Program Description: Straight and Narrow develops and delivers effective prevention, education and treatment services to clients with addictive disorders
Their Wish: Each day, dozens of individuals who are being treated at the Straight and Narrow walk from their residential facility to their cafeteria. This two-block walk is on public ground and passes under a train overpass in the heart of Paterson. It is a busy area, that sees a lot of traffic.
To help uplift the lives of those who are served at Straight and Narrow, we are requesting help from our community to beautify this two block walkway, remove trash and weed.
Program Description: Barnet House is a large two-story home in Pompton Lakes. It is home to 8 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Their Wish: The individuals who live at Barnet House enjoy spending spring and summertime moments on their deck. Their current patio set is over a decade old and in need of replacement. You can help by making a contribution.
Amount Requested: $1,000
Program Description: Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program, provides supportive services to Veterans with very low income who are literally homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Veteran families are provided with a range of supportive services designed to promote housing stability. The SSVF Program serves Veterans residing in the counties of Passaic, Bergen, Morris, Sussex, Union, Hudson and Essex. Services provided included case management, outreach, financial assistance, employment opportunities, legal aid assistance, and advocacy to support the Veteran household.
Their Wish: The Supportive Services for Veteran Families, has put together "Move in Kits" for formerly homeless veterans who they have moved into a new apartment or home. These kits include silverware, flatware, cookware, and other needed items for their new home. Can you give back to those who have served our country by making a donation to fill one of these kits?

Program Description: Gruenert Center is a vocational day program in Lake Hopatcong that provides job opportunities and training for indviduals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Their Wish: Gruenert Center is in need of a video camera to film their annual talent shows and to use in a video production group for interested clients.

Program Description: CARE is a monthly religious education group led by DPD volunteers, held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Jefferson Township This group spreads the good news through song, arts and friendship.
Their Wish: CARE is in need of picture bibles for all of the individuals who attend their monthly program

Program Description: The New Jersey Department of Children and Family Services has recently awarded Straight and Narrow a grant to expand its services for families. Straight and Narrow’s Alpha House opened in 1976 as one of the first residential treatment centers in New Jersey to treat pregnant women and women with pre-school aged children.
Their Wish: The Mommy and Me Program is requesting welcome kits for new babies including diapers, bottles and formula.
Amount Requested: $150 per kit
Program Description: DPD provides help and creates hope for hundreds of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities each day. DPD operates 10 group homes and 2 supervised apartments.
Their Wish: The adults who live in DPD's programs have very limited budgets. Many of the people of DPD love the arts and are fans of many local sports teams, but do not have enough money in their budgets to purchase tickets. Can you help by making a donation to allow us to purchase a ticket for a resident and a staff member?
Amount Requested: $200 per set of 1 staff and 1 resident tickets
Program Description: The Father English Community Center serves those in need throughout Paterson and Passaic County. The center offers a food pantry, homelessness prevention services and help for families in need.

Program Description: With over 50 years of service to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, we provide help and create hope for hundreds of people each day. We are the only Council on Accreditation (COA) accredited support coordination agency in all of New Jersey.
We offer services to residents of Sussex County, New Jersey who are eligible for the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) services.
Their Wish: Scholarship Money for individuals to attend the L.A.C.E. program at Sussex County Community College. The LACE Program is intended to assist developmentally disabled adults in an educational and social setting. An Emphasis is placed on maintaining and increasing social and academic skills.

Program Description: Walsh House is Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson's newest group home, dedicated on June 14, 2018, in Succasunna, New Jersey. Walsh House provides help and creates hope for 5 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Program Description: Giuliano House is a large ranch style home in Oak Ridge, NJ. Giuliano House opened in December of 2015, and is our most recent group home to open in Jefferson Township. Giuliano House provides help and creates hope for 4 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and advanced medical needs. Several of these individuals had been living in state-run institutions and now have the opportunity to live in a community-based program..

Program Description: Basile Apartments is a supervised apartment program located in two condominium units in Wayne, NJ. Throughout 2016, Basile Apartments provided 1,987 days of care to 6 people with developmental disabilities and autism.

Program Description: Columbus House is a large ranch style home in Oak Ridge, New Jersey. Columbus House "provides help and creates hope" for 5 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, some of whom have advanced medical concerns.
Columbus House opened at the site of the closed Camp Alexander in Oak Ridge, NJ in 1980.
Columbus House was named after the Knights of Columbus for their devotion to helping people with special needs. The Knights of Columbus are the largest Catholic, Fraternal Service Organization in the world.
